Summer Job- Research Support Officer

Pay: CA$18.00 per hour

Job description:

We are looking for a virtual research support officer between the ages of 18 and 30. The Research Support Officer will be responsible for supporting OGAV in areas such as communication, research analysis and synthesis, as needed. They will
assist with writing grant proposals and research funding opportunities that align with
OGAV’s mission.

The research support officer will be under the direct supervision of a Director on a weekly basis. Supervision will include job-specific training prior to starting the job, work instruction and tasks and evaluation of the work regularly as well as to discuss concerns or issues. Each youth hired will also receive one-on-one mentoring throughout the eight weeks to support career related training and skill development. Please note that working hours are flexible but expected workload is 35 hours/week for a period of 2 months (8 weeks) as part of the Canada Summer Job Program.

Summary of Duties:

  • Identifying grant funding opportunities.
  • Writing, submitting, and managing grant proposals.
  • Research other fundraising opportunities.
  • Assist in the preparation of social media announcements and web materials.
  • Coordinating with other leads at OGAV.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years experience conducting literature and scoping
    reviews and writing research reports.
  • Advanced computer skills including extensive familiarity with Microsoft Office
    Programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be knowledgeable with social media tools, including Facebook, X, Instagram, Mailerlite, and WordPress.
