Young Racialized Girls in STEM 2025 Workshop

The Young Racialized Girls in STEM Workshop directly addresses gender disparities in STEM fields (SDGs 4 & 5) by offering young, racialized, and underserved girls in the Peel Region an intentional, high-quality learning experience in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This initiative fills a critical gap in STEM exposure by providing accessible, hands-on activities, mentorship from STEM professionals, and an environment where racialized girls can see themselves reflected in STEM pathways.

Our one-day interactive workshop is designed to empower 200 girls ages 14–18 through immersive learning sessions and a supportive community that celebrates multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusion in STEM. Participants will explore STEM concepts through engineering design challenges, robotics activities, scientific inquiry, and career exploration led by industry role models.

This workshop plays a vital role in breaking down systemic barriers that limit racialized girls’ access to quality STEM education. By offering targeted support, representation, and real-world exposure, the program strengthens their confidence, expands their career imagination, and fosters a sense of belonging in STEM spaces.

Ultimately, this workshop not only positions each participant for future educational and career success—it also nurtures the next generation of diverse STEM innovators, contributing to a broader societal shift toward equity, inclusivity, and excellence across science and technology fields.
